Frequently Asked Questions
Consultation-Based Questions
Consultations inquiring about using our services are free to schedule and have. Consultations relating to existing software applications built by us are included with a maintenance plan or when intending to set one up.
Cost-Based Questions
Our services come at a low price point along with a win-win maintenance deal. We do not list our prices because the final price that you see depends quite heavily on what your specific needs are. For most business websites, you can expect a price tag greater than $1000. Websites with specific and unique requirements or mobile/desktop apps will generally cost more than $2000.
A website that just needs a home page, about page, and a Facebook feed will cost less than a website that needs authentication, eCommerce, or other more complex features. Very simple websites may even cost as low as $500.
While many competitors would charge 1.3% + 30¢, we intend to charge a much lower rate. Our application fee is 0.6% + 5¢ per purchase and a per product sale fee within this range: [0¢, 5¢, 10¢, 25¢]. The associated fee is based on the price of the product sold with products costing $5 or less resulting in no additional per product fee.
Neither case accounts for any fees associated with third-party payment processors. A typical rate though is around 2.9% + 30¢.
We aim to keep our eCommerce application fees lower than competitors but they are necessary to pay for service and labor costs associated with compliance concerns.
Things that the eCommerce application fees help to pay for:
- PCI Compliance
- Increased security and paperwork procedures (PCI requirement)
- Third-party system scanning vendors (PCI requirement)
- Lower upfront cost for the eCommerce system.
Will there be a discount? Yes, 15% off
Will it be cheaper to do it later using that discount? Probably not.
While we do provide a 15% discount on the expected hourly development costs, its almost always going to take longer to add a new feature to an existing system than to a new system. This is because an existing system may not have been designed to take on the specific feature (if you plan on adding a feature later but wish not to pay for it immediately, let us know during development so we can better prepare the system), the existing system will usually have data that will have to be carefully handled to prevent any corruption, and some features are harder to do on certain software frameworks (think the foundation of a building) than others.
Maintenance-Based Questions
If you sign a contract for a software application bundled with a maintenance plan, you will likely get two to three months without any maintenance fee. This does not include any hosting fees but instead covers the maintainer’s fee of a flat fee plus a percentage of the hosting fees.
Outside of a maintenance plan, we may offer to provide free maintenance if it is related to a problem caused by us or in specific and urgent circumstances.
Our maintenance plan bundled with the service option you pick will charge for any hosting fees along with a small maintenance fee. This small maintenance fee will usually be less than what you would expect to pay for hosting the service yourself. This is because as a software agency, we are able to lower recurring fees due to buying licenses in bulk.
If you have dynamic data and a maintenance plan, your database will be backed up once every day and your filesystem will be backed up once every week. We will hold some backups for both, for up to six months.
We also intend to provide incremental backups in the future. If you would like to be one of our first clients to receive this upgrade, let us know. However, incremental backups while in addition to full backups, will have an additional cost not included in the base maintenance plan.
The maintenance plan covers feature changes requiring less than four expected hours of labor by a single developer. This generally includes but is not limited to:
- Changes in the text’s font size, family, or rich text appearance
- Images added/removed
- A button or similar that makes completing a certain repetitive easier.
- Add some social media sharing buttons
- Add some analytics measuring features
- Toast notifications for some action (success, info, warning, etc.)
- Allowing a new piece of data to be added to a user profile
- Tooltips for context providing
- A back-to-top button
Features that require more than four expected hours (unless otherwise specified by a more expensive maintenance plan option offered), will require a separate evolution contract along with an additional fee to implement.
Other Questions
Yes, we intend to provide free one or more months of maintenance to the referer if the referred prospect signs a contract with us for our services.
The amount of months given for free to the referrer is based on the value of the contract signed.
Generally speaking, yes. If you are not sure if your specific country is available, then feel free to ask during the free consultation.
Yes, we may offer discounts to those we meet at a networking event. Additionally, these can all reason be reasons for a discount (although not guaranteed):
- We are providing seasonal discounts at the time
- You are a nonprofit aiming to help disadvantaged populations
- You are an entity based in West Virginia
- You are based in the Mid-Ohio Valley or Fairmont, West Virginia
- You are an existing client
Feel free to ask during a consultation whether one of these above cases are applicable to you.
While the exact time required will depend greatly on your specific needs, you can expect to wait at least two weeks from the first appointment you have with us. Mobile apps or more complex software applications including eCommerce websites are likely to take more than two months.
On a case-by-case basis, we may expedite the process, albeit at a higher price point.
We are rather new to the market as a business and intend to focus on offering our services at a lower price point then our competitors within the United States. We are based in West Virginia and are willing to help local organizations by providing discounts for organizations within West Virginia, particularly for organizations based in Fairmont or the Mid-Ohio Valley.
Our maintenance plan bundled with most of our options offers you a way to offload the risks related to having an online presence off onto us. Why worry about newly discovered vulnerabilities, backups, updates, uptime, etc., when you could have us to do it for you? Our low maintenance fee will generally mean that it will cheaper to have us maintain it, rather than do it yourself or in-house.
